Mersey Kidney First

About Us

In 1964 Mr Jack Pearson, Mr Jim Cosbie Ross and Dr H J Goldsmith (Left) founded Mersey Kidney First (MKF), under the original title of Mersey Regional Association for Kidney Research later to be shortened to Mersey Kidney Research before being renamed to Mersey Kidney First and therein establishing Liverpool as a leader in the practice of home dialysis.

The present remit of MKF is to:

Mersey Kidney First central office is based at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital (RLUH), where most of our research work is undertaken. We are a non government funded charity and are solely dependent on the generosity of donors through fundraising events, general donations, in memoriam donations, corporate giving and legacies.

We are extremely grateful to all donors, and do have a number of dedicated loyal volunteer fundraisers. They continue to raise funds through various activities which include Annual Balls, Concerts etc. However, we are always keen and on the look out for new people to help raise funds.

So if you have some spare time, and would like to get involved, please don’t hesitate to contact us and maybe join our Fundraisers’ Focus Group.
